3 Tips To Prepare Your Car For Transport To Your New Home

If you are planning on moving to a new home, you might be thinking about towing your car. This might be your plan for a few reasons; you might be moving far away and taking a plane, for example, or you might be driving a moving truck. Regardless of your reason for having your car professionally transported, you probably want to ensure that you do it right. To do so, make sure that you do these three things before the transporting company comes and picks up your car.

1. Document Existing Damage

If your car gets damaged during the transporting process, you want to be able to hold the responsible party responsible. To do so, you'll need to document any existing damage that might have already been done to your vehicle. Consider jotting down any scratches, dents or other imperfections that might be on your car, and snap pictures from all four sides. Then, if additional damage is done while your car is in the hauler's possession, you will have solid proof that will allow you to take the necessary steps to hold the towing company responsible.

2. Remove Valuables from Your Car

It's not a good idea to leave personal items in your car, including GPS navigation systems. Depending on the company that you use, the towing company might not take responsibility for personal items that are left inside of the car. Hopefully you won't have anything to worry about -- particularly when you're using a reliable company that you can trust -- but you don't want to have to worry about your items potentially being lost or stolen.

3. Have Routine Maintenance Done

Before having your car towed, consider checking your tires to make sure that they are properly inflated, topping off all of your fluids, having an oil change and having other essential  maintenance done. Then, you'll know that your car will be ready for being transported and that it will be ready for action once you arrive at your new home.

If you are having your car hauled to your new home, you'll want to make sure that it's ready for the journey. Before calling your towing company to come and pick up your car, consider these three tips. Then, you shouldn't have anything to worry about in regards to your vehicle when you have it towed. Instead, you'll know that it's fully prepared to be hauled. Contact a business, such as TNT Equipment Hauling, for more information.
